Always Thankful
My name is Alison and I am the heart and hands behind A New Creation Studio. Welcome to my website! It has been one year since I uploaded my first very cross stitch pattern to my Etsy shop. I am so grateful to the stitching community for your support and encouragement over these past months. You have inspired me to grow as a designer, and I am so grateful for you all! As a way of saying thank you, I have started a freebie section on my website and have designed a special Thanksgiving piece to celebrate this milestone. “Always Thankful” is my first freebie available for everyone to download and enjoy.
During the COVID-19 pandemic I, like many of you, found myself returning to the comforting rhythm of cross stitching after many years away from it. I started watching Flosstube and began to build up a stash of patterns, floss and charts. It was a joyful time of discovering new designers and modern cross stitch sensibilities. But this was not just a nostalgic retreat for me. It became a necessary refuge as I began to grapple with serious chronic illness and pain. As I began to lose the ability to do so many other things in my studio, cross stitching emerged, not just as an activity to fill my time, but as a necessary means to express my creativity despite my health challenges. What I found was that all my previous years of artistic experience began to merge into designing my own cross stitch patterns. I am so amazed that I get to do this as my job now and I can’t tell you how thankful I am for that!
As I look back on the experiences and inspirations that brought A New Creation Studio to life, I'm filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the challenges that reshaped my path, for the faith that anchored my soul in my hard and dark moments, and for the stitching community that has so warmly embraced my vision. We are joined to those who have gone before us and joined to those who will come behind us. We understand each other and the passion we all share for cross stitch.
This first free design is a testimony to a lesson I have learned through this difficult and exciting chapter of my life…there is always something to be thankful for! It is my hope that my patterns will not only encourage you to stitch but will also inspire reflections on faith, creativity, family and the beauty of life itself. Thank you for being such an important part of my journey!
